Hi everyone,
I was curious if you get a real bang for the buck with a cold air intake. I just found a new AEM for $125 and I am thinking about taking the plunge
Can someone give me a call if they have the chance 330.603.2541? I need to pick it up tonight
Thanks,

For $125 I'd rather buy a hooker than a cold air intake. It would give more bang for the buck anyways. _________________ 86 CJ that is slightly modified for occasional off road use.

It adds a little bit of power. I have had one in each of my wranglers and could see a little increase. _________________ 2006 Silver Rubicon, 35 x 17" New Goodyear MTR/s 4.5" 4wd hardware lift, jks 1.25" body lift, currier 1" mm lift, Smittybilt 8000lbs winch.

IMHO only if they actually separate the air filter fron under the hood are they worth it. Many are just a larger tube with a fancy air filter that would allow hot underhood air to be drawn in. The only benefit of these intake tubes is they are freer flowing than the OEM. _________________ "Got four on the floor and four in the air on that one, didn't we?"

If you're looking for performance increases there are other places you can go that will give you more for the money. It might cost more money, but you'll get serious increases. Personally, I'd vent the engine compartment and just get a higher flowing air cleaner. As mentioned, if the intake isn't a shaker type, it's just going to suck hot air in. _________________ 86 CJ that is slightly modified for occasional off road use.

Both mine where had metal shrouds around them to help keep the hot air from the engine away from the filter. I know after cleaning them the engine seems to run better. _________________ 2006 Silver Rubicon, 35 x 17" New Goodyear MTR/s 4.5" 4wd hardware lift, jks 1.25" body lift, currier 1" mm lift, Smittybilt 8000lbs winch.

along with venting the engine bay, and a cold air intake, get a free flowing exhaust _________________ 1999 Jeep Cherokee Classic, 4.0, 3"Skyjacker lift kit, 2 inch blocks on the rear, Skyjacker shocks, and 285/75/16lt mudders, Olimpic rock bumper on front, Cobra C.B. |
