Hi everyone,

I was curious if you get a real bang for the buck with a cold air intake. I just found a new AEM for $125 and I am thinking about taking the plunge

Can someone give me a call if they have the chance 330.603.2541? I need to pick it up tonight

Thanks,

Rick

For $125 I'd rather buy a hooker than a cold air intake. It would give more bang for the buck anyways.

The intake or the hooker?

It adds a little bit of power. I have had one in each of my wranglers and could see a little increase.

IMHO only if they actually separate the air filter fron under the hood are they worth it. Many are just a larger tube with a fancy air filter that would allow hot underhood air to be drawn in. The only benefit of these intake tubes is they are freer flowing than the OEM.

If you're looking for performance increases there are other places you can go that will give you more for the money. It might cost more money, but you'll get serious increases. Personally, I'd vent the engine compartment and just get a higher flowing air cleaner. As mentioned, if the intake isn't a shaker type, it's just going to suck hot air in.

Both mine where had metal shrouds around them to help keep the hot air from the engine away from the filter. I know after cleaning them the engine seems to run better.

along with venting the engine bay, and a cold air intake, get a free flowing exhaust
